Today BachserM\u00e4rt operates five individual grocery shops and a warehouse around Zurich.<\/p><p>The shops feature a wide assortment of items that are sourced directly from local farmers, cheese makers, bakers, craftsmen, small scale manufacturers and local culinary experts.<\/p><p>BachserM\u00e4rt employs around 45 people and welcomes 30 apprentices to acquire training in a socio-pedagogical class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In the summer of 2008 Patrick Honauer took over the village shop in Bachs and refurbished it with an intention to secure food supply in the village, promote organic produce and support local farmers. This laid the foundation of the very first BachserM\u00e4rt. More than 30 farmers joined hands with Patrick in his mission. BachserM\u00e4rt also became an associate partner of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.axisbildung.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">axisBildung<\/a> and started a socio-pedagogically supported apprenticeship program for young people.<\/p><p>In 2009 the second BachserM\u00e4rt opened in Zurich Albisrieden \u2013 the first urban counterpart to the shop in rural Bachs.<\/p><p>In 2010, in B\u00fclach, as part of the BachserM\u00e4rt Ltd. founded in the same year, BachserM\u00e4rt Logistics was established to meet the growing transportation and storage demands of the shops. The logistics team later moved to a bigger warehouse in Zurich Altstetten in 2011. The vocational training also expanded and started offering vocational training in logistics.<\/p><p>Between 2010 and 2013, BachserM\u00e4rt operated a large market stall in the Viadukt market hall in Zurich. Here many people in Zurich got to know us for the first time.<\/p><p>BachserM\u00e4rt Eglisau opened its doors in April 2013. The cooperative <a href=\"https:\/\/vierjahreszyte.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Genossenschaft Vier Jahreszyte Eglisau<\/a> financed the shop infrastructure. In 2013 we also took over the organic food shop Paradiesli, today&#8217;s BachserM\u00e4rt Seefeld. We run the shop on our own account in cooperation with the Paradiesli cooperative .<\/p><p>In 2014 we opened BachserM\u00e4rt Kalkbreite in the innovative and sustainable development of the Kalkbreite area in Zurich\u2019s 3rd district. The largest of the five BachserM\u00e4rt shops rapidly profiled itself through a large selection of unpackaged bulk goods and dining culture events with Laura Sch\u00e4lchli from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sobre-mesa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SobreMesa<\/a>.<\/p><p>In 2019, BachserM\u00e4rt opened the first POT in Zurich Altstetten together with the bio-dynamic farm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gutrheinau.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gut Rheinau<\/a>. POT is neighborhood-based kitchen and pantry combined into a single unit. The aim is to establish a model for a socially and environmentally sustainable food supply in neighborhoods.\u00a0POT Triemli closed its doors at the end of September 2023. The experience and findings from the three years of operation will be incorporated into considerations for a future store format.<\/p><p>At the end of May 2024, we had to close the store in Eglisau due to declining demand for fully supervised apprenticeships.<\/p><p>In mid-November 2024, we were able to open our first hybrid store at the same location in Eglisau with 24\/7 opening hours and short hours of service.
